Applications for The Common Young Writers Program are now open, and close May 17.

Prior participation in a creative writing course or workshop is a requirement for participation in Level II. You will be asked to supply a brief two-page fiction writing sample (an excerpt from a longer piece is fine).

Applications will be reviewed by The Common's editorial team and decisions will be sent out in late May. If you are not offered a place in Level II, your application will automatically be considered for Level I.

Tuition payment is due by mid-June. For those receiving tuition waivers, we will correspond with you directly about the amount and timing of any tuition payments. Partial and full tuition waivers are available for both Level I and Level II.

The program runs July 22-August 2, and you must be able to attend in its entirety.

We will prioritize high school applicants, rising 9-12 grades (or the equivalent if home-schooled), but will accept applications for Level II from former participants entering college if they are no older than 18.

If you have questions, please contact the Literary Editorial Fellow at info@thecommononline.org.

We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
